One immunisation record, three readers

A free, lifelong immunisation record that runs on any phone. Web design and build, for the patients who keep it and the clinics that recommend it.

Client
The Vaccine App
Year
2020
Scope
Web design, Build
A nurse checking a small child in a consulting room, phone in hand, the VaccineApp logo over it.
A record that starts at birth.

(Overview)Nobody sets out to keep a medical record for sixty years. This one has to last that long without anyone tending to it.

(The brief)A first injection at birth and a booster decades later go into the same record, on phones nobody has bought yet. And the record is only worth keeping if clinics use it, so the site had to explain itself to patients and sell a listing to practitioners without either one feeling like an afterthought on the other's page.

Website

(The split)A parent, an adult and a traveller want three different things from the same record. Splitting the site three ways cost less than compromising.

(What shipped)The home page leads with one line: your free digital vaccine record for life. Practitioners get their own route in from the same page, and the questions are sorted by category rather than stacked in one long list a worried parent has to scroll.

The VaccineApp home page open on a desktop in a paediatric waiting room, a mother and child behind.
Parents
A doctor giving a toddler an injection while the child sits on a parent lap.
At the clinic
The VaccineApp site open on a laptop in a consulting room, the app shown on two phones.
The app, as the site shows it

The record, at the visit

A record is only lifelong if it outlives the phone it started on.
